Ipswich is steeped in history, with plenty to see right in the town centre.

St Lawrence Church

Rising above the buildings that crowd around it is the highly decorated tower of St Lawrence Church, built in 1882 but enclosing a medieval tower.

The aisleless nave and chancel were built between 1430 and 1450. The final bequest from John Baldwyn, a town draper, is recorded below the outside of the east window in an inscription carved along with his draper's shears.

The bells of St Lawrence are pre-reformation and the oldest in Ipswich.
