Ipswich Central has announced further details of this year’s Christmas lights switch-on.

The Christmas switch-on spectacular will take place on Sunday 16th November and will be full of spectacular surprises and a guaranteed snowfall. Many shops and attractions will be open all day. Entertainment will take place on the Cornhill all afternoon with the main switch-on event commencing at 5pm.

Paul Clement, Executive Director of Ipswich Central said “The switch-on event marks the start of Christmas in Ipswich and it seems to grow in popularity every year. We are confident that this year will be the biggest yet.”

This year’s switch-on will feature the cast of the New Wolsey Theatre’s Rock n Roll pantomime Cinderella, who will be performing songs from the show live on stage. Sarah Holmes, Chief Executive of the New Wolsey said “Our rock ‘n’ roll panto has become a huge part of people’s Christmas celebrations in Ipswich – so much so that this year we’ve scheduled an extra week of performances to satisfy public demand.  I’m really pleased that everyone at the lights switch-on will get to see just why the show’s so popular – and we’re delighted to be working closely with Ipswich Central to make this happen.”

Late night shopping commences on Thursday 20th November and continues for the next four Thursday evenings until Christmas. Most shops will stay open until 9pm. The Park and Ride festive provision will be available at www.ipswichcentral.com once confirmed. There is also free car parking at the NCP Cox Lane and Tacket Street sites on the first Sunday in November and December.
