Green Event a Great Success

Ipswich town centre was transformed into a Green Extravaganza on Sunday (30th March) when Ipswich Central took over the Cornhill.
Over 700 shoppers took up the offer of a free reusable fabric shopping bag, and children were entertained within the on-site green craft workshops.
In addition to the free bags and workshops, crowds of shoppers were entertained by Snip and Clip, the garden barber beetles, the Djansa Drum Group, Flower Stilt Walkers, a human statue and the SGR Thunders.
“We are delighted with the response we have had from visitors to the town, and by how many people made a special trip to the Cornhill to find out more about our first ever Go Green Extravaganza.” Paul Clement, Executive Director of Ipswich Central explained. “I hope we have proved that being green doesn’t have to be difficult, and that small steps can make a massive difference if we all take part.”
Business who exhibited on the day included: John Banks Honda, First Buses (with one of their buses), Greenest County & Green Transport (from Ipswich Borough Council), CRed Campaign, Flavours (delicious locally produced food), Aldercarr Farm, Cox Saab (with their BioDiesel car), Master Composters (from Suffolk County Council), Suffolk Eco Trade, Xpresso, Garden & Chicken Company, Starbucks, The Carbon Trust, Marks and Spencer, Enjo (eco-friendly cleaning products), Shop Bags, LEV (electric bikes), Ink Express, and Patched Elephant (recycling school products and uniforms).
