An 'Emerging Global Destination'

Ipswich is named one TripAdvisor's 'Top 25 Emerging Travel Destinations in the world for 2020'.

The 'Top 25' list is based on the biggest increase in positive reviews, booking clicks and user saves on TripAdvisor; which demonstrates a real boost to the visitor and tourism perception of Ipswich.

Ipswich is number 14 on the list, beating the historic Belgian city of Antwerp and the Australian coastal metropolis of Darwin.

At Ipswich Central, we're proud to promote the town through our All About Ipswich website, social media channels and campaigns, as well as providing resources to Visit Ipswich; the official tourism body for Ipswich.

Tourism in Suffolk is worth over £2billion to the local economy and we work hard to ensure that more people see Ipswich as destination to visit, stay, work and live; all of which helps to support and develop businesses in the town.

Helen Cutting, Brand Manager at Visit Suffolk, continues: "The work that has gone into promoting the town by Visit Suffolk, All About Ipswich and the tourism businesses, is now coming to fruition and visitors are realising that this is a great destination choice for a short break or longer holiday."

Emma Shaw, a spokesperson from TripAdvisor, says: “A destination that’s managed to keep its historical charm intact, Ipswich is a cultural hub of activity,”
“With superb transport links, an excellent range of accommodation options and ever-growing list of theatres, dance houses and things to do, Ipswich is attracting some well-deserved traveller attention.”

Tom Hunt, MP for Ipswich, says: "It doesn't come as a surprise at all, Ipswich is a great place to visit."
"Hopefully this will have an immediate impact of helping local businesses, while seeing the town put on the map internationally."
