Ipswich Borough Council is pleased to support Ipswich Central in its management of the Business Improvement District (BID) in Ipswich.

The Ipswich BID has been running since April 2007 and has already shown excellent results in all of its 6 key areas.

 Ipswich Borough Council supports Ipswich Central in a number of ways including:

  • Collection of the levy;

  • Additional grant support - in addition to paying the levy on its own properties;

  • Assisting with town centre events;

  • Joint initiatives on cleaning and maintenance;

  • Defining the vision of where Ipswich wants to be in the future.

The Council has representation on the Ipswich Central Board and at the Central Forum where all town centre issues are discussed.

Councillor Richard Atkins (pictured above), Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said, "We have been happy with the success of the Ipswich BID so far and are pleased to work closely with Ipswich Central to ensure that key issues relating to the town centre are addressed. The levy from businesses in this area brings a concentrated £3.2m into the town centre which can make a fantastic difference. It is important that we all work together to ensure that we understand what businesses in the town really need and that this money is used in the best way possible."
